Case Study: ACT Industrial Buildings — 330m² Extension
Location: Leicestershire
Project Type: Design, Supply, and Installation of Industrial Extension

Project Overview

ACT Industrial Buildings was commissioned to expand an existing industrial unit with a new 330m² extension. Our team delivered a fully integrated solution, involving the design, supply, and installation of a high-quality, insulated steel extension that seamlessly integrated with the existing structure. This project aimed to enhance the client's operational capacity while maintaining durability, security, and thermal efficiency.

Scope of Works & Key Features

New Steel Building Construction:
A galvanised steel building was designed for longevity and minimal maintenance, providing a robust extension.

Structural & Insulation Components:
120mm insulated roof panels to ensure thermal efficiency and weatherproofing.
80mm insulated wall panels for internal temperature stability and energy savings.

Doors & Access:
A new galvanised roller shutter door for large vehicle access.
Personnel doors for convenient, secure access for staff.

Existing Structure Modifications:
We also undertook modifications to the existing steelwork at the gable end, including the installation of a new 3-phase insulated roller shutter door, ensuring seamless integration and enhanced operational flexibility.

Challenges & Solutions

Structural Compatibility:
Integrating the new extension with the existing building required precise modifications to the steelwork, which ACT expertly managed, ensuring a seamless connection that maintained structural integrity.

Thermal Efficiency:
The insulation specifications for both roof and walls were carefully selected to optimize energy efficiency and indoor comfort, reducing long-term operational costs.

Security & Access:
Installation of high-quality roller shutter doors and personnel access points provided secure, convenient entry points aligned with the client's operational needs.

Project Outcome:
The completed extension significantly increased the client's operational capacity while maintaining high standards of durability and security. The galvanised steel construction ensures longevity, and the insulated panels provide thermal efficiency, reducing energy costs.
