Today, on World Mental Health Day, we’re highlighting an issue that hits close to home in our industry. Construction is one of the highest-risk sectors for mental health problems, with studies showing that up to 83% of workers have experienced mental health challenges, and more than 500 UK construction workers lose their lives to suicide each year.
The pressures of long hours, tight deadlines, and physical strain can take a serious toll. Taking a mental health day isn’t a sign of weakness — it’s a crucial step in protecting wellbeing, improving focus, and creating safer worksites.
“In construction, we build structures that stand the test of time — but to do that, we also need to build teams that are resilient, supported and heard. A mental health day is not a luxury; it’s an investment in our people and our future.”
— Ash Topham, Managing Director, ACT Industrial
At ACT Industrial, we believe that looking after our people’s mental health is just as important as maintaining physical safety. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier industry — one conversation at a time.
