There’s no denying it, summer on site has its perks.
Blue skies, cracking countryside views, and the sort of mornings that make you forget you’re standing in steel-toe boots. Some of the places we get to work are genuinely stunning… right up until the sun decides it’s got something to prove.
When schools start shutting because it’s too hot, you know we’re not exactly working in ideal conditions. While everyone else is hunting for a fan or the nearest paddling pool, we’re still out there getting the job done.
That said, working safely always comes first. The hottest days are all about plenty of water, regular breaks in the shade where possible, sun protection, and keeping an eye on each other. No job is worth risking someone’s health.
We’ll let you in on a little secret too. We like to think we’re pretty tough, but on those absolute scorchers, it was hard to keep working at full pace. Sometimes you have to accept that the heat wins a few rounds. We’d rather slow things down a touch and make sure everyone gets home safely than pretend we’re superheroes.
Luckily, the weather never stays the same for long in Britain. Give it a week and we’ll probably be complaining about the rain instead.
