Most of our projects at ACT Industrial involve large commercial and industrial buildings, warehouses, factories, roofing projects and refurbishments where everything tends to be big, fast and measured in thousands of square metres.
So our latest project has been a nice change of pace. We’re currently working on the steel frame for a new home for our good friends over at Stylish Living, bringing the same experience and attention to detail we use on our commercial projects into a much more residential setting.
Same Steel, Different Scale. Steel-framed construction is something we know inside out, but working on a house brings a slightly different feel to the job. The scale is smaller, the pace is a little calmer and you get the chance to really appreciate how the structure comes together. There’s something particularly satisfying about watching the skeleton of a home take shape and knowing that eventually this steelwork will disappear behind the finished building. It’s also been a welcome break for the team. We love the challenge of the big industrial builds, but every now and then it’s nice to work on something where you’re not looking at several thousand square metres of roof waiting for you!
Working with Stylish Living
It’s even better when you’re working alongside people you know and trust. We’ve got a great relationship with the team at Stylish Living, so being involved in one of their projects and bringing our steelwork experience to the build has been really enjoyable.
While it might look very different from the industrial buildings people normally associate with ACT, the fundamentals remain exactly the same: good planning, accurate steelwork, experienced people and getting the details right from the start.
From Houses to Huge Industrial Buildings. Projects like this also demonstrate the range of work our team can take on. ACT Industrial is best known for commercial and industrial steel buildings, turnkey construction, roofing and cladding, refurbishment, asbestos removal and associated civils, but the knowledge behind those projects can be applied to structures of all shapes and sizes.
For now, though, we’re enjoying the slightly slower pace. Then it’ll probably be straight back to building something enormous.
